Electrical service
EV charger installation, sized to your service.
A Level 2 charger is a large continuous load. Installing it properly starts with whether your panel can carry it.
What a proper EV install includes
Most home EV chargers run at 32 to 48 amps continuously for hours at a time. That is a bigger sustained load than almost anything else in a house, which is why the install begins with a load calculation rather than a breaker.
Skyvolt installs the dedicated circuit, the disconnect or receptacle the charger requires, and the charger itself, then confirms it under permit.
- Load calculation to confirm the existing service can carry the charger
- Dedicated 240V circuit sized for the specific charger
- Hardwired or receptacle installation, indoor or outdoor rated
- Load management or sub-panel options where capacity is tight
- Multi-unit and workplace charging scoped as a commercial project
If the panel cannot carry it
A full panel is not the end of the conversation. Depending on the property, the options are a service upgrade, a load-management device that shares capacity, or a lower charge rate that still fills the car overnight.
Those trade-offs get explained with the quote so the decision is yours, not a default.
Common questions
Can you install a charger I already bought?
Yes, provided it is certified for use in Canada. Send the model and we will confirm the circuit and mounting requirements before scheduling.
Do I need a service upgrade for an EV charger?
Not always. It depends on your existing service size and the rest of the load in the property. The load calculation answers it, and load management is often an alternative to a full upgrade.
Can you charge two vehicles, or a fleet?
Yes. Multiple chargers can share capacity through a load-management system, or run on separate circuits if the service supports it. Workplace and multi-unit charging is scoped as a commercial project.
