Electrical service

Residential wiring and rewiring, done to BC code.

New circuits, replacement of aging or unsafe wiring, and the everyday additions that older homes were never wired for.

What residential wiring covers

Homes accumulate electrical demand faster than their wiring accounts for. A kitchen renovation, a home office, a hot tub, or a basement suite can all outgrow the circuits that were installed when the house was built.

Skyvolt handles both ends of that: adding properly sized circuits where the load has grown, and replacing wiring that is damaged, undersized, or no longer acceptable under the current BC Electrical Code.

  • New branch circuits for kitchens, laundry, workshops, and outdoor equipment
  • Replacement of damaged, overheated, or deteriorated wiring
  • Whole-home or partial rewires during a renovation
  • Receptacle, switch, and device replacement, including GFCI and AFCI protection
  • Wiring for secondary suites and accessory buildings

How the work is scoped

Rewiring quotes depend on what is actually behind the walls, so the first step is a look at the panel, the existing circuits, and the access available. That determines whether the job is a targeted repair or a larger staged replacement.

Where a permit is required, it is pulled under the Skyvolt contractor licence and the installation is declared by our Field Safety Representative.

Common questions

Does rewiring mean opening every wall?

Not always. Access through attics, crawlspaces, and existing openings often avoids large-scale drywall removal, but the honest answer depends on the layout of your home. That gets confirmed before the quote is finalised.

Do I need a permit for residential electrical work?

Most new circuits and rewiring in British Columbia require an electrical permit. Skyvolt pulls the permit under its contractor licence so the work is inspected and documented properly.

Can you wire a secondary suite?

Yes. Suite wiring has its own requirements around circuits, smoke alarm interconnection, and sometimes separate metering. Send the plans or describe the layout and we can scope it.
